New Hope Missions

New Hope Mission Church Hämeenlinna (NHMC) operates in two core areas: as a local church and as a mission church.

NHMC is putting its mission vision into action

  • By sending individual missionaries and/or teams to mission fields located around the world.
  • By supporting missionary work around the world.

NHMC’s mission work is separate from local church ministry and is known as New Hope Missions (NHM). The NHMC board is responsible for the mission work as a whole; Pastor Leena Käppi serves as the director of the mission department, and Mission Pastor Wille Nummikoski serves as the deputy director.

Mission Fields

Baltic

Behind the missionary work in the Baltic region lies the vision of a powerful revival spreading across the Gulf of Finland to Estonia and, through Estonia, to the entire Baltic region:

I was standing high above the Baltic Sea, roughly near Kuresaare, and looking down at Estonia from above. I could see the Gulf of Finland and all the Baltic countries. The surrounding darkness was similar to that seen in nighttime satellite images, where Europe appears as a series of points of light. Estonia stood out clearly from its dark surroundings, with its borders clearly defined. There was no darkness above Estonia.

As I watched the vision, I recited Hebrews 12:25–29 aloud in Estonian:

Be careful not to reject Him who speaks! For if those who rejected the earthly speaker did not escape, how much less will we escape if we turn away from Him who is from heaven, whose voice once shook the earth, but who has now promised and said, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens!” But “once more” indicates that what is shaken must be temporary, for it has been created so that what cannot be shaken might remain. Therefore, having received a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be grateful and thus serve God in a manner pleasing to Him, with reverence and awe. For our God is a consuming fire!

To the north, the view was limited to the southern coast of Finland, where flames and waves could be seen. Suddenly, massive, brilliant waves began to move and swept across the Gulf of Finland to Estonia like a tsunami. Huge, foamy waves of light, resembling ocean waves, swept over all of Estonia again and again. Estonia was filled with immense brightness, as if the entire country were bathed in full sunlight in the middle of the night. The waves rolled and rolled across the land, again and again… The waves were like gold, and their crests shone with brilliance.

As the radiance of these waves swept across the land of Estonia, golden pillars rose up all over the country. Golden chains appeared between the pillars. All the pillars then joined together. Suddenly, those pillars and their chains turned into a huge fishing net, which immediately filled with fish of various sizes and shapes. The net was full of fish. At that moment, a gigantic hand came down from the sky, grabbed the net, and pulled the full net—fish and all—away.

At the same time, immense waves of radiance seemed to come to life and continued to surge towards Latvia and Lithuania, and from there onwards, opening up like a motorway or a runway. However, the radiance did not leave Estonia, even as the waves continued on their way; instead, Estonia remained enveloped in radiance.

Other Missionary Work
Missionary work is carried out in various locations around the world, depending on available resources and as opportunities and doors open up.

Bless others

Often different challenges can arise within our lives where the Lord wants to show us new ways to navigate the situations. Sometimes we can have challenges with our loved ones in how we communicate with them in certain situations. Sometimes there can be different emotions that arise within us in times of challenging discussions.

Prayer for Leaders

We are instructed to pray for all people and asking God to help them and interceding for them. This also includes praying for our leaders and those in authority. This is especially important that we remember to pray for our regional and national leaders in Finland.

City of Refuge

The Lord has told us, as a church to declare and proclaim Hämeenlinna as a city of refuge, a place where God’s glory dwells. Hämeenlinna is called to be a city that is safe where people can dwell and find new strength in the Lord.

Seeing Jesus and being Transformed

The Lord showed me a glimpse in the Spirit what it means to be a daughter of the Most High King. I will try to describe it. I saw Jesus as the King of Kings with an overwhelming purity and beautiful awe around Him. I felt in my spirit the delight of being His daughter and I saw His call for surrender to a life given for His glory.

A Season of New Mindsets

Today I was washing an old style homemade Finnish mat and as I stopped to reflect upon the day of what had just been, I sensed this season is one where the Lord is removing the old mindsets of yesterday that need to be washed and cleansed for the new season ahead....
